2017 Burr Walk-A-Thon

Tuesday, September 26, 2017, on the Burr School Track During Recess

The Walk-a-Thon is a FUN and FIT activity for all students of Burr School, from Pre-K to 8th grade.  Organized by Friends of Burr, this event helps raise money for our favorite neighborhood school, funding programs such as technology, school beautification, and arts programming.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Walk-A-Thon...

  1. Start collecting pledges!

  • Each sponsor should write his/her name and pledge amount.  Sponsors can give cash or check (payable to ‘Friends of Burr’).  Donations can also be made online at www.friendsofburr.org (in Paypal’s “special instructions” section, indicate child’s name & grade so that they are sure to get credit for the pledge!)

  • There are awesome individual prizes for highest collected pledges, so ask your neighbors, grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc. to sponsor you!  Our Goal is $20,000. If each Burr Student collects at least $40, we will easily surpass that goal. Have your child ask each relative for a $10 pledge, they will be surprised how quickly the pledges add up!  Remember, this is a perfect opportunity to ask grandma and grandpa, next door neighbors, and/or co-workers.

  • For additional pledge forms please visit the Friends of Burr Website www.friendsofburr.org

  1. It’s time to WALK!  On walk-a-thon day, each class will walk around the track within the fenced-in confines of Burr School during their recess times.  We will also have healthy refreshments and fun activites for the kids to do in the field.  And remember to send your Burr student to school wearing gym shoes for the most comfort!

Thanks for your participation and support!  GOOD LUCK AND HAVE FUN!

Kiss N Go and Lunchroom Volunteers Needed

We are currently seeking volunteers for Burr Kiss N Go! (the morning drop-off) and for Kindergarten and 1st & 2nd Grade Lunch.  Please consider signing up to volunteer!

We need at least two Kiss N Go! volunteers each morning from 8:15AM-8:45AM.  It's a quick shift for folks already dropping off their kids that morning and a good way for 9-5 working parents to help out and get to know the Burr community (as long as you can come in a touch late to work once and awhile).

We also need two Lunch Room volunteers for each shift (Kindergarten from 11-11:20AM and 1st & 2nd from 11:25-11:45AM).
