WHAT IS THE GALA?

The Friends of Burr annual Spring Gala is our biggest fundraiser of the year! It’s also a big party where our community of parents, teachers, administration, and community partners can come together and have a good time.

In 2024 we will be in the same beautiful venue, The River Room at Burning Bush Brewery! Book your sitter now and get ready for a night filled with silent auctions, raffles, contests, and more. DJ Wild Boor will be spinning some groovy 70’s jams to boogie to and the live auction will be something you won't want to miss.

Your ticket purchase includes entry to the event and a wristband for unlimited drinks from 7:00-10:00 pm. After 10 pm it will be a cash bar. And you will be able to snack on yummy food from local restaurant partners.

This year’s theme is a 1970’s Disco—a Burr Boogie Bash! Come dressed however you feel most comfortable, but we hope to see people get creative. Farrah Faucett hair, platform shoes, leisure suits, ruffled tuxes, sequined bell bottoms, and all sorts of other 1970s’ glitzy-glam.

HOW IT WORKS!

Our Spring Gala includes a silent auction, a live auction (with auctioneer and Burr parent Ian Kaspar!), games, raffles, and lots of good times. We will also have an online auction running from April 26th-May 4th with a ton of great items. Between the three auctions, there is a great range of services, products, entertainment, sporting events, and restaurants, so everyone is sure to find something that interests them!

When you arrive at 7:00 you will check in and receive a bidding card that you will need to keep with you at all times - this is how you can bid on items in both the silent and live auctions or make a donation to our Field Campaign. Once you have your bid number and your drink from the bar, you can browse all of the amazing items we have on offer! Make sure to check out the multiple locations, the auction is spread out throughout our space. They are grouped by category, and each category will be closed out at posted times; so make sure you get your bids in and watch out for people outbidding you before the closing time! The first category will close at 8:00, and each category will follow every 15 minutes.

In between bidding and mingling, we invite you to check out the ticketed events and parties we have on offer, buy a raffle ticket or three, and participate in one of the activities!

Once all of the silent bidding has ended, we will move on to the best part of the night: Ian Kaspar’s live auction! Select items will be kept aside for him to auction off––and some popular silent bidding items may turn to live––whether you participate or just spectate, it is always a super fun time. We’ve seen some pretty competitive bidding wars, some of which we still hear stories about today!

Once all the auctions have ended and the night comes to a close, you will take your bid card back to the check-in desk so that you can gather your winnings and check out. You are welcome to stay and keep partying at the cash bar until closing!
